Poeta. Fill d’emigrats polítics, visqué la seva infantesa a Alger i anà a Eivissa d’adolescent. De formació autodidàctica, i d’una incansable activitat cultural a l’illa, va fundar la revista Ítaca. Com a poeta ha passat del lirisme més intimista a la poesia de caire patriòtic o a la reflexió amarga i existencial. És autor d’Estroncar el soroll: 1975-1988 (Caixa de Balears, 1996), que aplega els seus primers reculls publicats, Àmbit humà (Moll,1995), Des de la quietud (Viena, 2003), Convocat silenci (Eliseu Climent / 3i4, 2003), Premi Vicent Andrés Estellés i Vida guanyada (Eumo/Cafè Central), entre d’altres. També ha publicat assaig amb Camins (Columna, 1993), A la vora de Villangómez (IEE, 1995) o Punt de cadeneta (El Gall, 2007), així com prosa poètica amb Quadern d’Istambul (Documenta Balear, 2005).

Dichter. Als Sohn von politischen Emigranten verlebte er seine Kindheit in Algier und seine Jugendjahre auf Eivissa. Autodidakt und von unaufhaltsamme Tatendrang im kulturellen Bereich getrieben, gründete er u.a. die Zeitschrift Ítaca. Sein Poesiestil hat Wechsel vom intimsten Lyrismus patriotischer Ausrichtung bis zu bitteren und existenzialistischen Betrachtungen erlebt. Aus seiner Feder stammen u.a. Geräusch-Stopfen: 1975-1988 (Caixa de Balears, 1996), in dem er seine ersten veröffentlichten Gedichte zusammenstellte, Menschlicher Raum (Moll, 1995), Aus der Stille (Viena, 2003), Erbetene Stille (Eliseu Climent / 3i4, 2003), ausgezeichnet mit dem Vicent-Andrés-Estellés-Preis, und Gewonnenes Leben (Eumo / Cafè Central). Er ist der Autor von Essays wie Wege (Columna, 1993), Am Rande von Villangómez (IEE, 1995) oder Luftmaschen (El Gall, 2007), sowie des Bandes poetischer Prosa mit dem Titel Istanbul-Heft (Documenta Balear, 2005).

Poet. Jean Joseph Serra is the child of political emigrants and lived in Algeria as a small child and as an adolescent moved to Ibiza. Self-taught and tirelessly involved in cultural activity on the island, he founded the magazine Ítaca. As a poet he has moved from more intimately lyric work to a poetry of a more patriotic nature and to hard-edged existential reflection. He is the author of Plug Up the Noise, 1975-1988 (Caixa de Balears, 1996), a collection of his early published works Human Field (Moll, 1995), From the Quietness (Viena, 2003), Summoned Silence (Eliseu Climent/3i4, 2003), winner of the Vicent Andrés Estellés Prize and Won Life (Eumo/Café Central), among others. He has also published in the field of the essay Paths (Columna, 1993), At the Side of Villangómez (IEE, 1995) Point of the Little Chain (El Gall, 2007); as well as a work of poetic prose, Istanbul Notebook (Documenta Balear, 2005).
