Poeta i lingüista. Els seus llibres han estat traduïts a diverses llengües i han merescut els premis Rosa Leveroni (1995), Vila de Martorell (1996) i Crítica Serra d’Or de poesia (2004). És cavaller de les Arts i les Lletres de la República francesa. Ha publicat, entre molts d’altres, els volums de poesia Tríptic hebreu (La Magrana, 2002), El centre del temps (Edicions 62, 2003) o Els immortals (3i4, 2006), que tenen com a temes centrals la tendresa, el somni i l’oblit. També ha publicat estudis de lingüística històrica i de llenguatges especialitats arran de la seva col·laboració amb Joan Coromines i Badia i Margarit. Col·labora amb creadors d’altres disciplines com Antonio Hervás i Manlio Masu, Guido Dettoni, Manuel Cusachs, Kim Castells, o cantants com Dounia Hédreville, o Josep Tero. Actualment dirigeix la Fundació Lluís Carulla.

Dichter und Sprachwissenschaftler. Seine Bücher wurden in mehrere Sprachen übersetzt und mit folgenden Preisen ausgezeichnet: Rosa-Leveroni-Preis (1995), Preis der Stadt Martorell (1996) und Preis Crítica Serra d’Or für Poesie (2004). Er trägt den Titel eines Chevalier d’Art et Lettres der Französischen Republik. Neben vielen anderen hat er folgende Gedichtbände herausgebracht: Hebräische Blätter (La Magrana, 2002), Die Mitte der Zeit (Edicions 62, 2003) und Die Unsterblichen (3i4, 2006), deren zentrale Themen die Zärtlichkeit, der Traum und das Vergessen sind. Auch hat er historische Sprachstudien und Studien zu anderen Fachbereichen und im Rahmen seiner Zusammenarbeit mit Joan Coromines i Badia und Margarit verfasst. Er arbeitet mit Künstlern aus anderen Disziplinen zusammen wie Antonio Hervás und Manlio Masu, Guido Dettoni, Manuel Cusachs, Kim Castells oder Sängern wie Dounia Hédreville oder Josep Tero. Derzeit leitet er die Stiftung Lluís Carulla. Sein Werk hat in übersetzter Form in Fachzeitschriften auch international weite Verbreitung gefunden.

Poet and linguist. Carles Duarte’s books have been translated into various languages and have been awarded the Rosa Leveroni Prize (1995), Vila de Martorell (1996) and Crítica Serra d’Or for poetry (2004). He is Chevalier of the Ordre des Arts et des Lettres of the French Republic. He has published, among many others, the volumes of poetry Hebrew Triptich (La Magrana, 2002), The Center of Time (Edicions 62, 2003) and The Immortals (3i4, 2006), that shares tenderness, dreams and oblivion as central themes. Duarte has also published studies of linguistic history and of specialist languages as a consequence of his collaboration with Joan Coromines and Badia Margarit. He collaborated with creative people of other disciplines suck as Antonio Hervás and Manlio Masu, Guido Dettoni, Manuel Cusachs, Kim Castells, and singers such as Dounia Hédreville and Josep Tero. Presently he directs the Lluís Carulla Foundation. His work has been extensively translated in specialized magazines throughout the world.
