Escriptor i pintor. Gairebé els quaranta anys de trajectòria pública com a poeta amb títols com Enigma (Edicions 62, 1985), En quarantena (Empúries, 1990) - que li va merèixer el Premi Ciutat de Barcelona, Lletra d’Or i el premi de la Crítica -, o L’art de la fuga (Empúries, 2002), han estat aplegats a Formes de l’ombra. Poesia 1966-2002 (Empúries, 2002). La seva lírica tendeix, a través d’un progressiu rigor mètric i lingüístic, cap a les formes clàssiques, la contemplació, la reflexió i la ironia; i reconeix el mestratge de poetes com J. V. Foix i G. Ferrater. Als escenaris catalans han arribat obres seves com La vida perdurable (1991) o El dia dels morts. Un oratori per a Josep Pla (Festival Grec, 1997). Si a Sense escut (Empúries, 1998) recollia els seus escrits sobre política, llengua o art, publicats a “El Quadern” del diari El País, a L’ànima dels poetes (Ara Llibres, 2002) recollia els textos sobre poesia. Destacat traductor, és autor, entre d’altres, de Poesia italiana. De Francesco d’Assisi a Giacomo Leopardi (1985), de traduccions d’obres de G. Bassani, E. de Filippo, L. Pirandello o W. H. Auden o de la versió completa dels Canti de Leopardi (Empúries, 2004), Premi Crítica Serra d’Or. Llast (Empúries, 2007) és el seu darrer llibre de poemes.

Schriftsteller und Maler. Die Gedichte aus fast vierzig Jahren seiner Laufbahn als Poet mit Titeln wie Rätsel (Edicions 62, 1985), In Quarantäne (Empúries, 1990) - welches ihm den Preis der Stadt Barcelona, den Lletra d’Or und den Preis der Kritik einbrachte - , oder Die Kunst der Fuge (Empúries, 2002), sind in Schattenformen. Gedichte 1966-2002 zusammengestellt (Empúries, 2002). Seine Lyrik tendiert mittels einer metrisch und sprachlich immer strenger werdenden Ausdrucksweise hin zu klassischen Formen zu Betrachtungen, Überlegungen und Ironie, und lässt als Vorbilder die Dichter J. V. Foix und G. Ferrater erkennen. Auf den katalanischen Bühnen wurden von ihm Werke wie Das dauerhafte Leben (1991) oder Der Tag der Toten. Ein Oratorium für Josep Pla (Festival Grec, 1997) aufgeführt. Während Ohne Schild (Empúries, 1998) seine im “Quadern” der Tageszeitung El Pais erschienen Artikel über Politik, Sprache und Kunst enthält, sind in Die Seele der Dichter (Ara Llibres, 2002) seine Texte zur Poesie zu finden. Der herausragende Übersetzer zeichnet u.a. verantwortlich für Italienische Poesie. Von Francesco d’Assisi bis Giacomo Leopardi (1985), Übersetzungen von Werken von G. Bassani, E. de Filippo, L. Pirandello oder W. H. Auden und auch für die komplette Ausgabe der Gesänge von Leopardi (Empúries, 2004), ausgezeichnet mit dem Preis Crítica Serra d’Or. Llast (Empúries, 2007) ist sein zuletzt erschienener Gedichtband.

Writer and painter. Narcís Comadira has spent almost forty years in the public eye as a poet with titles such as Enigma (Edicions 62, 1985), In Quarantine (Empúries, 1990) - which won the Ciutat de Barcelona Prize, Lletra d’Or Prize and the Critics Prize -, and The Art of the Fugue (Empúries, 2002), which have all been Forms of the Shadow (Empúries, 2002). His poetry, with its progressive metric and linguistic rigor, tends towards classical forms, contemplation, reflection and irony; and reflects the influence of poets such as J. V. Foix and G. Ferrater. His works The Abiding Life (1991) and A Day of the Dead. An Oratory for Josep Pla (Grec Festival, 1997) have reached the Catalan stage. Without a Shield (Empúries,1998) is a collection of his writings about politics, language and art published in “El Quadern” of El País, and The Soul of the Poets (Ara Llibres, 2002) is a collection of his texts on poetry. A noted translator, among other works he is the author of Italian Poetry, from Francesco d’Assisi to Giacomo Leopardi (1985), as well as of translations of the work of G. Bassani, E. de Filippo, L. Pirandello, W. H. Auden and of the unabridged version of the Canti of Leopardi (Empúries, 2004). Llast (Empúries, 2007), recipient of the Crítica Serra d’Or Prize, is his latest book of poems.
