Escriptor, historiador, arqueòleg i arxiver. Ha treballat com a dinamitzador de zones de muntanya. Va començar a publicar relats a les revistes Andorra 7 i Pirineu Actual. És articulista regular a la premsa des del 1997 a les revistes Sàpiens, Descobrir Catalunya i al suplement de “Cultura/s” de La Vanguardia. És considerat un representant de la novel·la fronterera i pirinenca. No és casual, doncs, que les seves novel·les de gènere negre Obaga (La Magrana, 2003) o Blau de Prússia (Columna, 2006), Premi Carlemany, passin entre poblets dels Pirineus, pròxims a la frontera, Andorra i Barcelona; com tampoc és atzarós que L’any dels francs (2003), Premi Néstor Luján – la seva única incursió, de moment, al gènere històric – narri les peripècies vuitcentistes d’un agent secret al servei de Carles IV que planejava la invasió d’Andorra.

Schriftsteller, Geschichtswissenschaftler, Archäologe und Archivar. Er hat als Mediator in Bergzonen gearbeitet. Seine ersten Erzählungen veröffentlichte er in den Zeitschriften Andorra 7 und Pirineu Actual. Seit 1997 ist er regelmäßiger Mitarbeiter bei Zeitschriften wie Sàpiens, Descobrir Catalunya und der Beilage “Cultura/s” der Tageszeitung La Vanguardia. Er wird als Vertreter der Grenz - und Pyrenäenliteratur angesehen. Es ist kein Zufall, dass seine Krimis Obaga (La Magrana, 2003) und Preußischblau (Columna, 2006), ausgezeichnet mit dem Carlemany-Preis, in Pyrenäen-Dörfern, in Nähe der Grenze, in Andorra und Barcelona spielen. Auch überrascht nicht, dass Im Jahr der Franken (2003), ausgezeichnet mit dem Néstor-Luján-Preis – sein bisher einziger Ausflug zum historischen Roman – die Abenteuer eines Geheimagenten im Dienst von Karl IV. erzählt, der im 18. Jahrhundert die Invasion Andorras plante.

Writer, historian, archeologist and archivist, Albert Villaró has placed a renewed focus on mountain regions. He began publishing stories in the magazines Andorra 7 and Pirineu Actual. Since 1997 he has been a regular contributor to the magazines Sàpiens, Descobrir Catalunya and the “Cultura/s” supplement of La Vanguardia. He is considered a representative of the novel of the frontier and the Pyrenees. It is not by chance then that his detective novels, Shady Side of the Mountain (La Magrana, 2003) and Prussian Blue (Columna, 2006), winner of the Carlemany Prize, are set in a town in the Pyrenees, near the border, and in Andorra and Barcelona; it likewise not by happenstance that Year of the Francs (2003), winner of the Néstor Luján Prize – his only incursion, thus far, into the historical genre – narrates the eight-hundred events of a secret agent at the service of Charles IV who planned the invasion of Andorra.
